Minister for Education Ruarai Quinn attended the conference and Brian Kelly availed of the opportunity to inform him of the fact that 30 VECs were very successfully using SalesPulse software systems and that some of our existing systems are already linked in with his department and more may in the future.

The minister said that these (type of) systems will be very much needed when the VEC consolidation takes place and when the new SOLAS organisation is up and running.

New timetable highlighting any conflicts for Tutor bookings or Room bookings.

A small change in the way texts are sent has become necessary.

The Data Commissioner in Ireland has issued a directive restricting the use of text in SenderID’s in mobile messaging. In other words the text can no longer come from “VEC Text” or “Salespulse” for example

It does provide the advantage that you can have the recipients of the text you send reply to your text. You would just type in your own mobile number and the recipient can hit reply. They would be charged the standard rate of sending a text.

If you did not want to insert your own number you could type in your organisations main landline number.

You should now start the body of your text message with something like “VEC Text” or “BTEI message” so the recipient will know who it is from.

• Record FETAC QA meetings you have with an individual tutor
• Report on a quarterly or annual basis on all recorded meetings or contacts with your tutors.
• Record details of a key meeting you have and build up a history of communication with your tutors.
• Record that documentation was given to a tutor on a particular date.
• Schedule future meetings to follow up with tutors.

You can access this new feature under the Tutor module in the Adult Education system.
