Great feedback on Rollcall App
Rollcall App profiled in Business & Leadership
Irish software firm SalesPulse has launched an app called ‘Rollcall’, which allows teachers to record absenteeism on their smartphones.
The new ‘Rollcall’ app is an add-on to the existing system, being offered free to existing customers.
Updating attendance through the app is simple, with teachers only having to flag who is absent. The app then updates the roll book for the school principal on the school’s admin system.
“With almost 80pc of people in Ireland owning smartphones, our ‘Rollcall’ app is something new to the market. We are confident that teachers will find this app extremely useful, saving time and hassle,” said Brian Kelly, SalesPulse.

SalesPulse launch App to update and monitor absenteeism
SalesPulse, has developed a new app, called ‘Rollcall’, which allows teachers to record absenteeism at the touch of a button on their smartphones. A first on the market, SalesPulse are launching the app at the Irish Primary Principals Network (IPPN) conference in Dublin 24th Jan 2013.
Latest research released by the National Education Welfare Board* (NEWB) found that over 31,400 primary students miss school daily. The research also found that 12 per cent of Ireland’s 506,000 primary school students are absent for 20 days or more during the school year.
Developing dedicated Primary School software since it founded in Kilkenny 10 years ago, this system tracks school attendance, Returns to the Department of Education, bulk mails and texts to parents, parents contact details, school accounts and payments from students among other services. SalesPulse recently upgraded this software to a secure Cloud based system allowing school principals, teachers and school secretaries to access the system from the classroom, the office or even remotely.
While teachers traditionally manage class attendance on this system through a PC, many complained that they find roll calls time-consuming. In response, SalesPulse developed its new ‘Rollcall’ app, an add-on to the existing ‘Primary Schools Administration System’, allowing teachers to easily and quickly update attendance records through their smartphones. Updating attendance through the app is simple, with teachers only having to flag who is absent. The App then updates the Roll Book for the school principal on the Schools Administration system.
“With almost 80 per cent of people in Ireland owning Smartphones, our ‘Rollcall’ app is something new to the market. We are confident that teachers will find this app extremely useful, saving time and hassle. It also means attendance records are accessible to teacher and principal immediately, alerting to any unexplained absences” said Brian Kelly, SalesPulse.

Detox your Computer
10 Helpful hints on “Detoxing” your Computer
1 Protect your passwords. One option is to put your password on a yellow sticker and stick it on your screen. THIS IS NOT A SECURE WAY OF PROTECTING YOUR PASSWORDS ! I would recommend typing them into a Spreadsheet or Word document and saving the document with a password. *
2. Clear out your inbox.
3. Set up folders in your email account to move your email into, so you don’t have to clear out 3,000 emails again next Christmas.
4. Run a full Virus scan on your computer. If you don’t have Anti-Virus software then get it. AVG provide a good free version.
5. Run a Disk Clean-up to improve the performance of your PC. Not sure how to do it ? Google Disk Clean-up
6. Take a back-up of your favourite files and pictures. Laptops & Phones do get stolen. A memory stick will normally have plenty of storage space for your main documents. However I would recommend a portable Hard Drive. They have come down in price with 500GB available for around 50 euro now.
7. Update your Social Media pictures on Facebook or LinkedIn and check your security settings.
8. Review any online subscriptions you have.
9. Sync your mobile phone and resolve to do it more often.
10. Go to mycharity.ie, find your favourite charity and donate €10.

SalesPulse meet Minister
SalesPulse attended the IVEA Annual conference on 15th Sept 11. It gave us a good opportunity to meet with our VEC customers and keep them up to date on developments as well as to listen to their needs.
Minister for Education Ruarai Quinn attended the conference and Brian Kelly availed of the opportunity to inform him of the fact that 30 VECs were very successfully using SalesPulse software systems and that some of our existing systems are already linked in with his department and more may in the future.
The minister said that these (type of) systems will be very much needed when the VEC consolidation takes place and when the new SOLAS organisation is up and running.
He wished SalesPulse the best.
